Here at the We Cycle Technician Academy we try to put on courses throughout the year that cater to all levels, from the complete beginner to the experienced shop mechanics. We run classes lasting a few hours to a few weeks, and everything in between. We have courses for those who want to learn how to do a specific task to use at home, all the way to City and Guilds recognised qualifications for those looking to start out on a career using bike maintenance.
There are 3 levels of City and Guilds Bike Mechanic training lasting 1, 2 or 3 weeks. These OFQUAL regulated courses provide recognised qualifications and award points that can be used towards future learning.
We take what we know and boil it down to specific tasks that can be covered in a single day and accessed by anyone, regardless of prior knowledge. The content can vary, but popular courses include Hydraulic Brakes, Gear systems, tubeless Set up, and wheel truing.
Our women only sessions cover the same topics and skills as can be found in our other one day sessions but are specifically for women. These sessions tend to fill up quickly, so booking early is advisable!
These sessions tend to be put on during school holidays, and offer a starting point for young people with guidance on how to clean their bike and basic maintenance.
Bike Mechanic skills and techniques are changing constantly as new products are developed. To help with this we offer a range of CPD days throughout the year to people already working in the industry to look at best practice and new skills.
We can arrange specific sessions to suit either a group of people, or if there is something you want to look at on a 1 to 1 basis we can also accommodate you. Please get in touch to find out more about our bespoke training.
